SDLP Upper Bann MLA Dolores Kelly has welcomed an announcement from Asda that they are donating £9,000 to Seagoe Youth Group in Portadown.
The donation forms part of over £500,000 donated by ASDA to good causes across the UK to celebrate the company’s 50th birthday.
Mrs Kelly said, “This very generous donation is a welcome boost to an organisation that has promoted good community relations for over 40 years.
“The groups gives over 500 members the chance to meet people from all sections of the community, learn leadership skills, create opportunities for employment, build academic achievement as well as develop self esteem .It has taken a strong role in generating alcohol and drug awareness as well as running summer school and sports programmes.
With funding for such groups being slashed across the board this is very welcome news..
These funds will go towards the much needed revamp of the centre and the purchasing of new equipment.”
