Larne assault was ‘sectarian hate crime’

Police are treating an assault which took place in Larne in the early hours of July 12 as a “sectarian hate crime.”

A 50-year-old-man was assaulted on the Curran Road at just after 3am, by three men who got out of a car.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment to minor head injuries.

Inspector Mick Wood commented: “The assault is being treated as a sectarian hate crime and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed this incident to contact police at Larne on 101.

“Information can also be passed anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
