Learner driver was not accompanied

When she was involved in an accident it was discovered that a learner driver was not covered by insurance because she did not have a qualified driver with her.

Elzbieta Marzena Kasiak, whose address was given as Lakelands, Craigavon, was banned from driving for two months last Friday at the local magistrates’ court for not having insurance on September 20 this year.

She was also fined £150 and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

As well she was fined £50 for driving unsupervised and £50 for not displaying ‘L’ plates.

The court heard that at 3.50pm a two vehicle road traffic accident happened at Lake Road in Craigavon.

There were no injuries and just minor damage was caused to both vehicles.

Police spoke to the defendant and it transpired she was a provisional licence holder. Her front seat passenger did not have a valid licence.

Mr Conor Downey, representing the defendant, said the vehicle was owned by her then partner and she accepted she should not have taken the chance to drive without being supervised.
