This event, held by Resurgam Trust, was in response to feedback from social enterprises who are finding that they are experiencing difficulties in filling positions which have been created.

Resurgam feel that there are barriers that prevent people within their community from accessing employment or training. Issues highlighted include lack of information and support on the transition from benefits to employment, initial support to cover childcare costs and improved skills.

Given the range of barriers, Resurgam linked with the Public Health Agency to support this event, using a model of engagement from Early Intervention Lisburn.

The ‘exhibitors’ were targeted through relevance to support and enablement as opposed to just employers, something Resurgam have identified through their experience in social enterprise. The agencies had a broad representation from social security and benefits experts, family support and childcare providers, health professionals and social enterprises.

The mix of agencies reflected the mix of those attending from women returners to sixth year students.

The event was supported by Lisburn Sure Start who assisted with crèche facilities which enabled parents to attend while their children were close by.

There was an opportunity to have discussions; something inherited by health professional which worked well.

The aim of the event was to raise awareness of the support offered to those who are seeking employment or to re-enter the job market. It is hoped this event highlighted the range of services available and encouraged people to come forward and avail of support in a community setting.

Resurgam would like to thank all those who took part in the event.
