Presenting certificates to the young achievers, Colonel David Kane, 1st Northern Ireland Battalion ACF Commandant, said: “This is a form of training which gets more challenging each year and Cadets are encouraged to work their way right up to four star accreditation, developing a vast range of skills along the way. These young people tackle everything from fieldcraft and first aid to sport and community work so that, when it comes to applying for college or drafting a CV for that first job, they have plenty to offer and plenty to be proud of. Importantly, they also enjoy a great social life in the Cadet movement and our Cadets happily combine sociability and achievement.

“I was bowled over by the success attained by a host of teenagers from the North Coast I congratulate not only the young people themselves, but also the Adult Instructors who inspire them and the families who give them their support.

“Cadet membership has always been buoyant in this area but this is a past-time which is growing in popularity as more young people step up to the challenge and opportunity. Parents and schools are quick encourage involvement with an organisation which encourages fitness and friendship and provides, at low or even no cost, opportunities to shine.”
