Locals urged to get all fired up for great cause

The event, at Lisburn Rugby Club on Friday October 9, already has a number of volunteers fired up for the challenge, including Pro Mr World Mark Getty, who recently opened Elite Health and Fitness in the City.

“As a registered charity, we self-fund as much as possible, but rely heavily on the generosity of the public to help us run Lucy’s Trust,” explained Olivia Kennedy, who runs the charity with Rob Dunston.

“Our aim is quite simply to help the most vulnerable dogs in our society and save them from needless euthanasia by providing interim care and direct rehoming.

“At present we are caring for a variety of rescue dogs including lurchers, greyhounds and Staffordshire bull terriers to name but a few.

“Lucy’s Trust is, quite often, the last chance for many of these dogs and we are committed to doing everything we can to help and re-home every dog we rescue.”

This is the first fundraiser the Trust has organised and it is hoped that the firewalk will become an annual event.

The event is ticket-only and numbers are limited.

Tickets cost £5 per person, which includes a light supper and disco.
