'˜Lucky Man' star goes back to school

No, it’s Coleraine actor James Nesbitt who dropped in on DH Christie Primary School in the town last week for an impromptu visit.

James was invited to the Ballycairn Road school by his sister Catherine Keys, who is the lead teacher in the Learning Support Unit.

The 50-year-old was delighted to pose for pictures with the pupils and staff who were thrilled to meet the man who plays the brilliant but troubled police officer Harry Clayton in comic book legend Stan Lee’s first UK TV venture, Lucky Man, now showing on Sky 1.

It’s been a fantastically busy start to the new year for the actor who is set to star in the return of the popular comedy drama Cold Feet for a sixth series on ITV later this year. James has also been filming for another new ITV drama `The Secret’ about the real-life double murders Howell and his lover Hazel Stewart.

It’s not the first time that he has dropped in on the Coleraine primary school.

Back in 2009 he was the guest of honour when Christie opened its Learning Support Centres.

“We were delighted to have James in the school again,” said Vice Principal, Jill Laverty. “He dropped in on the Learning Support Unit to see some of the things we are doing to make it a more nurturing environment.”

Principal, Peter Henry referred to James as a “faithful friend of our Learning Support.” He added: “We are always delighted to welcome James into the school and his interest in and compassion for our Learning Support Centres goes back a long way.

“He knew about the changes the staff have been trying to make and was keen to see them for himself. He always takes time to chat with the children and, most importantly, listen to them and he always has time for a photograph.”
