Made offensive remarks

When he was confronted by police a 29-year-old man made ‘gross and offensive’ comments, Craigavon Magistrates Court heard last

Andrew James McClean, whose address was given as Banbridge Road, Waringstown, admitted disorderly behaviour and obstructing a constable on September 17 this year.

The court heard that at 1.20am police went to 
Woodside Green, Portadown, after a report of a 
disturbance.

On arrival they saw the defendant shouting abuse at members of the public.

He then started to shout abuse at the police.

After reading what the defendant had said District Judge, Mr Mervyn Bates, said he was going to have to get a pre-sentence report.

He added that what was said had ‘gone beyond the pale’ and they were ‘gross and offensive remarks’ about another community.

The case was adjourned until December 4 for a pre-sentence report.
