A Portadown man who drove at over 100mph on the motorway was banned from driving for two months last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court.
Paul Anderson, The Fairways, Portadown, was also fined £200 and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.
The court heard that on February 27 this year at 1.10pm he was detected travelling at 102mph in the 70mph speed limit on the M1.
He told police, “I apologise for wasting your time.”
Anderson represented himself in court and said it was a ‘momentary lapse of concentration’ because at that time he had a lot of personal matters.
He added that he was normally an attentive driver but on this occasion had let it slip.
District Judge, Mr Mervyn Bates, said it was a ‘ridiculous speed’ and that the courts cannot condone speeds like that.
