Man not a scourge of courts

After he was stopped for speeding on the motorway it was discovered that a Gilford man had no insurance.

William Alexander Broome (51), Woodlands, Gilford, was fined £250 and given six penalty points last Friday at Craigavon Magistrates Court.

He was also fined £150, with three points, for excess speed on June 13.

The court heard that at 3.50pm he was detected travelling at 90mph and enquiries revealed he had no insurance.

Defence said that there was a time Broome was a scourge of the courts but that had tapered off.

He explained that his client had been coming home from work and had some DIY work to do for his son. Mr Ingram said there was a mix-up about the insurance and he sorted it out a few days later.
