When he thought his wife was having an affair a 32-year-old man took her mobile phone to check her messages, Craigavon Court heard last Wednesday.
Mariufz Barszczewski, Mullacreevie Park, Armagh, admitted assaulting his wife on January 24 and stealing her phone, valued at £200.
The court heard that at 11.55am police went to Liniskey Lodge, Portadown, where the injured party said that during an argument her husband had taken her mobile phone.
He read her messages after accusing her of having an affair and pushed her against a table. He left with the phone.
When the defendant was arrested the phone was found in his trouser pocket. He admitted pushing her.
District Judge, Mr Mervyn Bates, said this was a domestic abuse situation and would need a pre-sentence report.
He adjourned the case until April 8 and released the defendant on his own bail of £250 with the conditions that he resides in Armagh, does not enter Liniskey Lodge and does not contact his wife except by phone or text to arrange contact with their daughter.
