Motorcyclist in serious condition following collision

A man was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Hospital in ‘serious condition’ following a two vehicle collision in Craigavon on Wednesday afternoon (September 16).

Police are investigating the collision involving a car and a motorcycle on the Drumgask Road in Craigavon.

The collision, involving a silver Volkswagen Polo car and a black Honda motorcycle, occurred at around 4:45pm at the junction with the Moyraverty Road.

The male motorcyclist was taken to hospital by air ambulance following the collision and remains in a serious condition.

A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of careless driving causing grievous bodily injury and later released on bail pending further enquiries.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or who has dashcam footage is asked to contact officers at Lurgan on 101 quoting reference number 1474 16/09/20.

The NI Ambulance Service said: “The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 16.45 on Wednesday, 16 September,following reports of a two vehicle RTC at Willowfield Crescent, Craigavon.

“NIAS despatched two Emergency crews and one Officer to the scene. The charity Air Ambulance with HEMs crew on board was also tasked to the incident.

“Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, one patient was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast.”
