New Drumbo wind turbine launched

Local wind energy company, Simple Power officially launched its new turbine on Henry Dornan’s farm in Drumbo this week.

The 250kW single turbine based on Henry’s land in Drumbo was launched by the farmer himself and Simple Power Chief Executive Philip Rainey, who commented: “We are delighted to complete the construction and commissioning of the turbine on Henry Dornan’s farm.

“Our work on farms like Henry’s across Northern Ireland demonstrates the benefits of wind energy to the rural economy, as wind turbines enable farmers to turn their land into a sustainable source of income.

“These new turbines demonstrate growth, not only for Simple Power, but also for the wind industry in Northern Ireland.

“Despite many challenges, the outlook continues to be promising for the renewables sector.

“Wind power has the potential to be a significant economic significance for this country - we are fortunate to have this resource.

Simple Power has already started exporting power from seven new turbines with electricity generated being fed back into the Northern Ireland grid with the power purchased by Power NI.
