NIHE vows to clean up 'unsightly' Moyle lane

THE Housing Executive has moved to reassure residents of Larne's Moyle Parade that it will take steps to tidy up an "unsightly" lane in the area.

The announcement comes after a resident – who did not wish to be named – contacted the Larne Times to express concerns that the lane, which connects Moyle Parade to Factory Park, poses a potential danger to children.

She said: “The lane is completely overgrown with nettles and there is dog dirt everywhere. It has not been tidied up in over a year and it is used regularly by children walking to school or to the play park.

“I have been in touch with the council, Housing Executive and Roads Service to see if someone will take responsibility for the site, but they just keep passing the buck and claiming it is nothing to do with them.”

A spokeswoman for the Housing Executive said: “We have checked our records and confirmed that this pathway is in our ownership. Our grounds maintenance staff are taking steps to have the area tidied and to include it in our grounds maintenance schedule for tidying on a regular basis in the future.”
