Number plate came off after collision

When his front number plate came off a Portadown man put it on the dashboard, Craigavon Magistrates Court heard last Wednesday.

Because it was not displayed properly Mikolaj Vaz (19), whose address is Fitzroy Street in Portadown, was fined £75. He was also ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

Police at a filling station in Bridge Street noticed that the registration mark was not being displayed to the front of the vehicle.

A solicitor for the defendant said there was an unfortunate set of circumstances.

She explained that Vaz had left the hand brake off and the vehicle rolled into a wall. The registration plate fell off so he put in on the dashboard.

He was driving to collect his girlfriend when stopped by police, she added.
