O'Loan wants better communication services in North Antrim

NORTH Antrim MLA Declan O'Loan has questioned the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Investment on what developments can be expected to improve the standard of communication services available to rural consumers in his North Antrim constituency.

The SDLP representative said “According to Ofcom’s Assembly Bulletin Autumn 2010 rural consumers are more advanced than their fellow urbanites in terms of their use of communication services such as broadband take-up and mobile phone ownership.”

“This identifies a clear demand from rural consumers and subsequently a need for effective communication services in rural areas. Advancements in communication services within rural areas will not only help to stimulate further demand from rural consumers but will also aid small, developing rural businesses to operate and compete more efficiently and sustainably, strengthening the growth and development of our regional economy.”
