Fancy an icy dip on Christmas Day?

THOSE who take the plunge say it makes Christmas Day even more memorable!

Once again Coleraine Hospice Support Group is inviting local folk to join in their fun swim - Operation Freeze Knees - at Portstewart Strand at noon on Christmas Day.

Not only are you promised a knee-knocking spectacle but you’ll also be making ahuge difference to Hospice care services in the area by raising vital funded for the care of adults and children with life-threatening illnesses.

By completing a sponsorship form you can really make a difference to local patients and their families.

Over the past year the local community nursing team have cared for over 255 adults.

Organiser Ailna Smyth says: “We receive no government aid as the level of care is expensive. We rely heavily on donations from the general public.

“If you fel you can join in this event, sponsor forms are available from the Hospice Shop, Stone Row, Coleraine, or by ringing 028 703 51826.”

Ailna added: “Help us to break our record of fifty brave swimmers who entered the sea last year.”

As always, entrants are encouraged to wear fancy dress.

All funds will go to support the Hospice Home Nursing Service for the terminally ill.
