Cultural Centre has the perfect Valentine’s treat

WHAT better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day than with a special evening of romantic classics in an intimate, candlelit auditorium.

The Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre hosts ‘heart stealing’ singer Emilie Conway on February 9, starting at 8pm.

The Dublin born jazz vocalist presents an evening of sublime music from her recent album ‘The Secret of a Rose’ to celebrate spring as a season of hope, change and new love with jazz standards such as You Must Believe in Spring, Joy Spring, Aguas de Marco, It Might As Well Be Spring, But Beautiful, So In Love and many more.

Emilie won scholarships to Berklee College of Music, Boston, The Vermont Jazz Centre, and Souza Lima, Brazil.

She has studied with Sheila Jordan, Jay Clayton in the US, Fionna Duncan UK and Dorothy Murphy and has toured internationally, including leading events such as The Copenhagen Jazz Festival and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

A regular on RTE Radio, the talents of Emilie’s in-demand support musicians: Johnny Taylor (piano), Dave Fleming (double bass) and Dominic Mullan (drums), among Ireland’s leading musicians, are sought after north and south.

Emilie Conway “is a heart stealer with the voice of an angel, smooth, mellow, sincere and deeply connected to both music and lyrics,” said musical observer Fionna Duncan.

“She will melt your heart to butter and then spread it on a freshly baked croissant on a warm Paris morning,” continued Stephen Kennedy of Nighthawks IRL. “Yes, folks, she’s that good,” he said.
