Our Curtis is pure gold!

NOT many singers can say that they have recorded 25 albums.

One man that can is Curtis Magee.

He’s just been presented with a special gold disc by his record company, Music City Records, on the completion of his 25th album with the music label.

The well-known Coleraine singer will be showcasing his latest offering - ‘I’m On The Road Again’ at the Lammas Fair.

Curtis told The Times: “This is my 18th year in a row at the Fair. I really love the whole buzz of the fair. I meet people there that I maybe only see once a year.”

Curtis will be joined by his daughter Natasha this year who will be selling her debut CD.

Speaking about his new album Curtis added: “The album is doing really well. It’s getting plenty of air play, but I still can’t believe I have now recorded 25 albums with Terry Corrigan at Music City Records.

“I first met Terry in 1992, when I decided to take up music as my full time profession. I owe Terry a huge thank you for giving me the opportunity back then.

“Terry’s vast experience in the recording industry has helped me sell my name and my music to people all over the world.”

The new CD features 25 popular songs, which Curtis covers in his own style. Tracks include ‘Sentimental Irish’, ‘The Roseville Fair’, ‘Home to Barleyhill’, ‘This House is a Home’, ‘Walk Tall’, ‘The Faughen Side’, ‘The Road that Never Ends’ and ‘A Picture of Jesus on The Wall’.

A song especially written for Curtis about his annual Fanfayre, entitled ‘Come Join Me at The Fanfayre’ is also featured.

So what’s the secret to Curtis Magee’s longevity in the business?

“It’s simple,” he says. “Give the people what they want to hear, keep them dancing and singing along, then send them home happy.”
