Paisley had ‘considerable personal grace:’ Durkan

Former SDLP leader and Deputy First Minister of Northern Ireland Mark Durkan MP interrupted today’s proceedings at Westminster to make MPs in the House of Commons chamber aware of the death of Dr Ian Paisley.

Speaking in the House of Commons chamber Mr Durkan said he had “many differences over the years with Ian Paisley” but that he was a man of “considerable personal grace”.

Mr Durkan also tweeted from Westminster his condolences to the Paisley family and said: “For years he bellowed against what he mellowed to accept. In latter role helped to ensure settled process.”
