Park users and residents unite with Council to set up special Watch group

Lurgan Park is to get special protection as a new Neighbourhood Watch group has been set up.

Spearheaded by Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council Policing and Community Safety Partnership the scheme is similar to other Neighbourhood Watch projects..

Park users and local residents are uniting with the backing of the Policing and Community Safety Partnership and the PSNI to thwart vandalism and antisocial behaviour.

“It is important that everyone looks after the park, not just the Policing and Community Safety Partnership and the PSNI.

“We want to encourage local residents and park users to ‘own’ the park, take pride in it, look after it and protect it from vandalism and anti-social behaviour.

“By doing so they will not only be improving the safety and security of the park but also the surrounding area” said Chair of the Policing and Community Safety Partnership, Councillor Julie Flaherty.
