Plans have been confirmed for a park and ride facility close to Portadown Railway Station.
A Translink spokesperson said this week that they are planning to develop a site with capacity for 340 cars.
The site is adjacent to the railway station with access from the Corcrain Road.
She added, “Translink have completed a feasibility study and developed a business case for a park and ride facility...
“Subject to funding allocation, planning consent and completion of land acquisition, it is currently hoped to commence construction works in 2017.”
The investment will enhance the work just completed at the park.
There have been calls for more parking down the years, with a shortage of spaces and motorists forced to park along Park Road and Obins Street, often to the inconvenience of residents.
And there was dismay three years ago when it was learned that spaces were to be reduced by 21 during the station’s £4 million upgrade.
