Pensioner air lifted from Carrick-a-Rede

A pensioner has been airlifted from an island at Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge after falling and breaking her ankle.

The woman (68) was removed from the island by a Royal Navy helicopter tasked from HMS Gannet in Prestwick, Scotland, after she was unable to cross the bridge back to the mainland.

She was then removed to Causeway Hospital in Coleraine where she was treated for her injuries and shock.
