Glamping in the garden as Dalriada Festival switches to ‘Homefest’

One of Northern Ireland’s biggest family music festivals will go ahead this summer – online.

Dalriada Festival, which attracts 30,000 visitors annually to the Glenarm Castle venue, will take place virtually wth music lovers able to enjoy the entertainment in their own garden.

The organisers are now in the process of organising “Homefest” and preparing to bring the party to fans.

For those who wish to get into the festival spirit, they can be provided with a “glamping” tent and party pack.

Events and marketing manager at Glenarm Castle, Nigel Campbell explained: “If people can’t come to the festival, we will take the festival to them.

“It will be streamed virtually from Glenarm. People will be able to order food packs in advance. People can also order glamping tents.”

In a statement on social media, the organisers said: “It was heartbreaking to have to cancel this years Camp Dalfest but by doing so we knew that we were contributing towards the fight against Covid-19.

“As a thank you, and after much hard work, determination and some innovation over the past few weeks, we are delighted to announce that we will be bringing the festival live to you at home on Saturday, July 18 in partnership with Mid and East Antrim Borough Council.”

Fans are being invited to “enjoy an action-packed programme in the comfort and safety” of their own home.

“As well as a full day’s entertainment online, some will be pre-recorded and some live.”

Nigel added: “It is not just about the festival but promoting tourism recovery. It is very unique.”

Homefest 2020 will take place on Saturday, July 18.

Previously, performers have included the Bay City Rollers, Nathan Carter, Ronan Keating and Peter Andre.
