Jordan Nixon: funeral of Glenavy road tragedy victim

The funeral is taking place today (Tuesday) of the man who died in a single-vehicle collision in the Moira Road area of Glenavy on Friday (May 12).

Jordan Nixon, aged 22, was from Maghaberry. His funeral was leaving from his home at 12 noon to All Saint’s Parish Church, Eglantine Road, Lisburn (service 1.00pm).

A funeral notice said Mr Nixon was the: “Dearly beloved son of Irene and the late Robert Nixon. Much-loved brother of Jamie, Kyle, Chloe and Kaci. Cherished grandson of Valerie and Joanie. Partner of Jodie and dearest nephew of Allister, partner Joy, Karen, husband Stephen, Jacqueline, Lynda, Pauline and Ruth.

"Will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his mum, brothers, sisters and family circle. To Know him was to love him. Gone but not forgotten.”

Donations in lieu of flowers, if desired, were invited to the Northern Ireland Air Ambulance C/o S.D. Brown Funeral Directors 4 Sackville Street, Lisburn BT27 4AB.

Meanwhile, police investigating the incident have appealed for information.

A spokesperson from the Collision Investigation Unit said: “Police received a report shortly after 10.50pm on Friday, 12th May, that a pedestrian had been involved in a collision with a Volvo XC90 car. Officers, along with colleagues from other emergency services attended. Sadly, Mr Nixon died at the scene.

“A full investigation is underway and we are appealing to anyone who was travelling in the Moira Road area around this time and date, and who has dash-cam footage, to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101, and quote reference number 2353 of 12/05/23.”
