Women's Aid art project in running for major award

The Reconnect Project - It’s Never Too Late, a unique collaboration between Spark Opera and Women’s ABCLN (Antrim, Ballymena, Carrickfergus, Larne and Newtownabbey) is one of the finalists for the accolade.

It used art to help older women tell their life stories in a safe and supportive environment and raise awareness of domestic abuse amongst those over 55.

The National Lottery Awards are the annual celebration the people and projects who do extraordinary things with the help of National Lottery funding.

The public voting stage for the Project of the Year category at this year’s awards opened on September 7 and since then, thousands of people have cast votes for the 17 finalists to help decide this year’s winner.

Jonathan Tuchner, from the National Lottery, said: “We are delighted to have such an incredible list of contenders for the Project of the Year category in the 2022 National Lottery Awards.

“It’s always an incredibly competitive category and this year is no different.

“Thanks to National Lottery players, more than £30 million goes to good causes every week, making vital projects like these possible.

“So don’t forget to make your voice heard by voting for your Project of the Year in the National Lottery Awards – with your help, The Reconnect Project – It’s Never Too Late could be a winner.”

The public vote closes at 5pm on October 12. The winning project will receive a £5,000 cash prize and an iconic National Lottery Awards trophy.
