Plans to remove parking restrictions round Lisburn school

THE Roads Service has revealed plans to remove parking restrictions on three roads around Wallace High School.

Over the years residents and parents of pupils have complained about the parking situation in the area, with parents finding it difficult to find space when they are leaving their children to school and residents being unable to park outside their homes and sayiing they are unable to receive deliveries and are sometimes blocked in.

The Roads Service are hoping the removal of the existing single line restriction on side of Lisnagarvey Drive, Lisnagarvey Crescent and Bellevue Drive will be a compromise solution and help to ease the traffic and parking congestion in the area.

Currently the parking restriction in Lisnagarvey Drive and Lisnagarvey Crescent is in operation Monday to Saturday 8am-6pm from September to June and in Bellevue Drive from 8am until 6.30pm Monday to Friday and is active all year round.

"This has been an ongoing problem for a number of years and I understand Roads Service are making the proposal to amend the waiting restrictions in Lisnagarvey Drive, Lisnagarvey Crescent and Bellevue Drive to make parking slightly easier than it is at present ," explained Lagan Valley MP Jeffrey Donaldson.

"However, the proposal is now going out to consultation and everyone will have the opportunity to make their views known before a final decision is made."
