Police in drugs clampdown

The PSNI is running the latest phase of a campaign to tackle street-level drug dealing across Northern Ireland.

Between February and April this year, Operation Torus led to the seizure of £1.46 million worth of illegal drugs.

Detective Superintendent Andrea McMullan, from Reactive and Organised Crime Branch, added, “We also seized £44,000 in cash which we believe is linked to drugs. We arrested 357 suspects, charged 78 of them, reported 163 and released 55 on police bail.”

Police stressed that they need the help and support of local communities to act on illegal drugs, and they have urged people with information to contact them on 101 or phone Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
