On Tuesday, March 29, police received a report of cold callers in the Renmore Avenue area of Portadown. Men travelling in a white van were calling to doors offering power hosing.

The information was shared with all patrolling officers and the van was located and stopped by police.

Constable Sarah Murray said, “In this instance nothing untoward was detected and the occupants of the van indicated to police that they were leaving the area.

“We cannot stress how important early reporting of suspicious activity is. It helps us to prevent crime and also gather information that assists us in detecting and deterring criminals from operating in the Portadown area.

“I would like to say thank you to the caller in this instance and also encourage the whole community to be vigilant and report anything that appears unusual or suspicious on 101.”
