Profound sorrow spread over a wide area when it was learned of the sudden passing of Mr Dennis O’Neill which occurred at his home 1 Mountainview Terrace, Newry Road, Banbridge on Thursday, June 30.
He was the dearly loved husband of Marie and loving daddy of Carrie, Toni, Sarah, Seana, Emma, Ryan, John and Alicia. Dennis who was born and brought up in Lurgan and went to school there, married Miss Marie Donaghy and they came to live in Banbridge.
He worked in England as a plasterer and then after his marriage in St Patrick’s Chapel in Banbridge, he carried on with the plastering business. He enjoyed music and played in a group with his father, brother and a few pals.
He carried on with his music on coming to Banbridge and would have played in the Bridge Bar with his friends in Banbridge. He then along with his wife formed the taxi business known as Den’s Taxis and then did mostly contract work for schools for disabled pupils. He hadn’t enjoyed the best of health this last while. He is survived by his wife Marie, daughters Carrie, Toni and her husband Daniel, Sarah, Seana, Emma, sons Ryan and his wife Chloe, John and his wife Laura and Alicia, 7 grandchildren, his brother Tom, his sisters Bernadine. and Peggy. To these and all other relatives sincere sympathy has been extended.
The funeral took place on Saturday from his home for Requiem Mass in St Therese Church at which the celebrant was taken by Canon L. Stevenson, who spoke in glowing terms and the singing was by Mrs Marie Quinn. In the homily Canon Stevenson paid a fitting tribute to Dennis’s life. The burial took place after the mass in St Patrick’s cemetery, Dromore Road.
A family flower was placed on the grave and donations in lieu are being sent to William Bell and Co. Funeral Directors, 23 Kenlis Street, Banbridge, BT32 3LR for Diabetes N.I. William Bell and Co. had charge of the funeral arrangements.
