A Portadown man found asleep at the wheel of a car had a ‘cocktail of drugs’ in his system, Craigavon Court heard last Wednesday.
Allister Hanvey (37), Derryanvil Road, admitted driving while unfit through drink or drugs on March 1.
He also pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention at Oakvale, Craigavon, failing to report an accident and failing to remain at the scene.
Police found Hanvey asleep in the driver’s seat at Bridge Street and there was damage to the vehicle.
Another police unit had received a report of a hit-and-run accident at Oakvale which had involved the defendant’s vehicle.
Hanvey was taken to Lurgan custody suite and to hospital where a blood sample was taken. A cocktail of drugs was found in his system including cannabis and Diazepam.
Imposing an interim driving ban District Judge, Mr Mervyn Bates, adjourned the case until September 23 so that a pre-sentence report could be obtained.
