Portadown McDonald’s shuts early because of brawls

Brawls forced the closure of Portadown’s McDonald’s restaurant in the early hours of this morning.

Fighting was reported in the branch at Meadows Lane and the 24-hour restaurant had to close.

The PSNI in the area explained, “Whilst on routine patrol of McDonalds, Meadow Lane this evening, Police noted a number of persons fighting both in and outside the premises. Whilst a number of persons were injured (not too badly thankfully), a number of persons were advised they would be reported for various offences.

“The incident resulted in Portadowns famous 24hr McDonalds being closed from about 01:30 much to the dismay of the police and the innocent bystanders who sadly had to go home with empty bellies.

“Normal service will resume at McDonalds later this morning.”

It’s not the first time trouble has been reported in the Meadow Lane area. The police made arrests after fighting between groups last month.
