Probation after £1,000 worth of cannabis plants found

Cannabis plants valued at £1,000 were found when police searched a house in Lurgan, Craigavon Magistrates Court heard last Friday.

Radislaw Dlugosz (27), Wellington Street, Lurgan, admitted cultivating cannabis plants and unlawful possession of cannabis on June 16 last year.

The court heard that during a search of the defendant’s home two cannabis plants were found in a wardrobe in a bedroom. They were worth £1,000.

Other drugs were found in the premises including a jar of cannabis in the freezer.

Dlugosz said they were for his own personal use and he never supplied drugs to any other person. A barrister representing the defendant said there was never any suggestion of supplying in this case. She added that there was only one driving offence on his record.

District Judge, Mr Mervyn Bates, said he thought that a probation order was appropriate and imposed an 18 month term.
