When he pulled out into traffic a van driver caused a police vehicle to brake sharply to avoid a collision.

Thomas Bowles (65), whose address was given as Connaught Park, Portadown, was fined £100 last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court for driving without due care and attention on July 28 last year.

He was also given four points and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

The court heard that a van, driven by the defendant, pulled out in front of a police vehicle which had to brake sharply to avoid a collision.

Mr Conor Downey, representing the defendant, said his client appreciated it was poor driving.
