Quigley welcomes aid for Causeway Volunteers

SDLP councillor Stephanie Quigley has welcomed Big Lottery Fund grant-aid to the Causeway Volunteer Centre for training programmes.

She said: “The Causeway Volunteer Centre provides a vital support service to volunteering in the Coleraine, Ballymoney and Moyle areas and will continue to do so in the future.

‘I am delighted Big Lottery Fund has accepted a bid of £9700 to go towards training volunteers who perform a vital role in making our society a better one and especially for those who are marginalised, isolated and alone.

‘This money will be an investment in a future where volunteering is playing an ever-increasing role in a society where the statutory sector cannot hope to provide for all the needs of our people.

‘The Causeway Volunteer Centre, based at River House in Coleraine, has opened up new opportunities for people interested in making available some free time every month to become involved in a whole variety of volunteering fields where there is a need to be filled. The fact that this organisation has been recognised by Big Lottery is an endorsement of the wonderful work they do.”
