Upper Bann MP David Simpson’s annual Christmas sit-out in Portadown is to receive some extra sparkle next week.
The MP, who has held a sit-out in the town in each of the last 10 years in the run-up to Christmas, is once again raising funds for the Mandeville Unit at Craigavon Area Hospital.
This year will have a different flavour as primary schools come along to sing carols and a visit from the ‘man in the big red coat’ is expected.
The Portadown sit-out will take place on Thursday, December 18 and Mr Simpson will be located outside J.R McMahon’s in the town centre.
Mr Simpson said, “I am always amazed at the generosity of people from the Portadown area when I have my annual sit-out.
“This year to mark the 10th year I will be having some of the local primary schools along and there will be a special visit from Santa himself at various times throughout the day.
“The sit out will take place on December 18 and everyone is welcome to come along and give a donation which will go in its entirety to the Mandeville Unit at Craigavon Area Hospital.
“This year will hopefully see us break the £30,000 total across the three town centres Banbridge, Portadown and Lurgan.
“I look forward to seeing you in Portadown town centre next Thursday and wishing you a very Happy Christmas as your Member of Parliament.”
