School children meet "Oscar" at Alley Cats

NAMING a pet is always difficult but naming the six foot tall kitty cat from Alley Cats at the Jet Centre was all in a day's work for the children at St. Patrick's and St. Joseph's Primary School in Garvagh.

The Jet Centre held a fun “Name the Cat” competition for local primary schools and after much deliberation, the name Oscar – which was submitted by the P5 class in Garvagh was chosen.

“We had so many entries from local schools across the North Coast but in the end we really thought the name Oscar suited our mascot,” explained Louise McClelland-Sims, manager of Alley Cats.

The class was treated to a free fun day out at Alley Cats where they got to meet Oscar and play on all the fantastic climbing equipment and slides.
