A 42-year-old man who assaulted a security man at High Street Mall in Portadown was given community service last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court.
Pawel Stanislaw Gluch, Selshion Hall, Portadown, admitted common assault and disorderly behaviour on February 27 this year.
The court heard that police received a report of a member of the security staff at High Street Mall being assaulted.
The injured party said he had asked two drunken males to leave the Mall and the defendant grabbed by the back of the head using an open hand. There were no injuries to the security guard.
Gluch was located by police in Woodhouse Street and was arrested. He admitted the offence.
A barrister representing the defendant said it was ‘not great’ behaviour but thankfully the victim did not receive any injuries.
He explained that Gluch had an alcohol problem and had 24 previous convictions.
The barrister said there were various recommendations in the pre-sentence report and the defendant would consent to community service.
District Judge, Mr Mervyn Bates, said community service was appropriate and imposed 160 hours.
