Sinn Féin request Kilrea crossing

SINN Féin MLA Billy Leonard has asked Roads Service to see if a pedestrian crossing of some kind could be introduced at Bridge Street in Kilrea.

He said that many local people including school pupils have told his constituency office that there are real problems getting across the busy street.

Mr Leonard said: “I know of one elderly lady who stood for virtually ten minutes trying to get across before a person helped her.

“This typifies the difficulties on this very busy street so we have asked Roads Service to look at the situation. I appreciate there are some serious practicalities close to the Diamond but I feel that a solution could be found.

“Our request is already in so we will see what Roads Service recommends.”
