A young Portadown woman is celebrating the Prince’s Trust course which changed her life.
Soraia Simoes, 21, took part in Team 2014 and like many young people, she found the programme to be a huge turning point in her life.
Ostracised because she couldn’t speak English and bullied at school because of her alopecia, Soraia found the move from Portugal to Northern Ireland very difficult. Frequent moves affected Soraia’s education and she left school with no qualifications or self-confidence.
Life began to improve and Soraia began to look to the future, enrolling on Get Started with Film and then onto the Team Programme. Team made Soraia feel supported and encouraged. Her confidence grew and she became determined to be a good role model for her daughter.
