Storey tops North Antrim voting poll

DUP MLA Mervyn Storey has the best voting record at the NI Assembly of all of the MLAs elected at the beginning of this current term, figures released show.

The figures which were released for the current Assembly session show Mr Storey with a 90% voting record far surpassing the next highest figure, that of SF’s Daithi McKay on 77%.

Pointing out that overall the DUP has by far the best voting record at the Assembly Mervyn Storey said:

“The average voting record by political party since the current Assembly term began is: DUP 81%; SDLP 78%; SF 74%; ALLIANCE 66%; UUP 60%

“This puts the DUP top and the UUP bottom of the pile. Of the five Assembly Members with the highest voting records, four of them are members of the Democratic Unionist Party. Of the four MLAs who shared the worst voting record of 23% two were independents and two were from the UUP.

“I don’t particularly wish to dwell on my own figures other than to say that the DUP is committed to delivering the best representation to the people. In 11 of the 18 constituencies the DUP had the highest voting record. Along with my colleagues I believe in representing the electorate all of the time and not just at election time. That is what I shall continue to do.”
