A year group of 333 pupils across both campuses of the school were entered for nearly 2,500 examinations, 99.6% of which resulted in pass grades.

Almost 95% of these grades were at Grade E or better while 62% were grades A* to C.

Craigavon Senior High School principal, Mr David Mehaffey, paid tribute to the pupils and their teachers, saying: “I am very happy for all those young people who have done so well and very encouraged that the hard work undertaken by both the pupils and their teachers has proved to be so worthwhile. They all deserve great credit.”

Mr Mehaffey also thanked parents for the support that they had given to both their children and the school over the course of the last two years.

“A good performance in examinations is nearly always a joint effort between the school and the home,” he said.

“The school depends on parents to ensure that their children maintain a positive attitude towards school and attend regularly.”

Top achiever on the Lurgan Campus this year was Christopher Edwards, closely followed by George Smith, Bradley Lyness, Paige Carley, Nathan McCann and Joel Adams.

Mr Mehaffey also highlighted the fact that good grades have not been confined to those pupils considered to be the most academically able.

“I am very pleased this year by the achievements of pupils at all levels throughout the school,” he said.

“It is always very satisfying when young people who have worked very hard get grades that surpass their expectations.”

Most of these young people will be continuing their studies in sixth forms and in a wide variety of further education and training courses.

Mr Mehaffey said: “We wish them well and we look forward to following their progress throughout the coming months and years.”
