Show producer Kieran Corr said, “Rock of Ages is a big undertaking for the society but one in which we are all relishing.

“Tom Cruse, Alex Baldwin, Julianne Hough, Catherine Zeta Jones and Russell Brand all starred in the 2012 smash hit film.

“Many of our members saw the musical show in London a few years ago on one of our West End trips and we have been looking to perform it ever since.

“The copyrights are now released and we are delighted that Samuel French Limited in London granted us a licence to perform this show.

“We will be the first society in County Armagh to perform this production and the Market Place Theatre in Armagh is a superb venue.

“We have a fabulous cast put together for this production. Jonathan McGuinness will be the musical director and Claire McMahon is the choreographer.

“The lead roles of Sherrie and Drew will be performed by Amy McConville and Ethan Lawlor.

“Amy is 19 and is a former pupil of Lismore Comprehensive who has performed many times for the society. Amy has her grade 8 in singing and passed her drama A level last year.

“She has starred as Marty in Grease, Cosette in Les Miserables and Meg Giry in The Phantom of the Opera and various principal roles for the society.

“Ethan is also 19 and is from Derrymacash and is a former pupil of Lismore Comprehensive. Ethan has also got an A Level in drama and a Diploma in singing and hopes to pursue a degree in musical theatre at a school in England.

“Ethan has starred as Doody in Grease, Javert in Les Miserables and Piangi in Phantom of the Opera and various other principal roles.

“We have also got Ruairi McAlinden, Kirstie King, Michael Murray, Ellen Creaney, Michaela McConville, Erin Tennyson, Nathan Reilly, Adam Gracey, Chrissy Corry, Rheanna McKinley and Danny Taaffe all top performers for the society performing in principal roles in this production”.

Mr Corr added, “Rock of Ages is an 80s themed hilarious musical which features legendary songs from the 80s including ‘Don’t Stop Believin’, ‘We Built This City’, ‘’The Final Countdown’, ‘Wanted Dead Or Alive’, ‘I Can’t Fight This Feelin’ and ‘I Want To Know What Love Is’.

“Rock of Ages is a high energy feel-good nostalgia that will put a smile on your face and have you laughing and rocking in equal measure.”
