Threw a piece of masonry


After shouting and swearing, an 18-year-old man threw a piece of masonry at a police

vehicle, a court has heard.

Lee Knox, Garvaghy Park, Portadown, admitted disorderly behaviour and attempted criminal damage to a police vehicle on March 17 this year. He also pleaded guilty to disorderly behaviour on May 25.

Craigavon Magistrates Court heard that on May 25, police saw the defendant at Selshion Parade, Portadown.His eyes were glazed and his movement uncoordinated. He was warned about his behaviour and told to go home, but he started to shout obscenities at police.

On March 17, Knox was seen in Lake Street in Lurgan. He approached a police vehicle and began shouting and swearing before lifting two large pieces of masonry. Knox threw a piece at the vehicle hitting the windscreen. He was not arrested at the time but was cautioned later.

District Judge Des Perry said that Knox had been given a combination order on May 10 and yet he was back out on the streets causing problems. Sentencing was adjourned until August 12 for a pre-sentence report.
