Local DUP MLA Sydney Anderson said, “I welcome that road improvement works are currently being carried out on the Banbridge Road in Gilford. The road experiences a heavy volume of traffic and as such it had fallen into a state of disrepair. Therefore, it is positive to see necessary repairs now being carriedwhich will be of benefit to local residents and commuters.

“When road works are being conducted it is of utmost importance that disruption is kept to a minimum and these current works are no exception with a number of businesses being situated in the village. I am aware that some disruption was experienced at the weekend which contributed to a build up of traffic at different occasions. Local business owners had contacted me with their concerns and I have liaised with Transport NI to see what more can be done to minimise disruption as this work continues to be carried out. I will continue to liaise with the relevant authorities in the coming days on this issue on behalf of Gilford business owners and residents.”
