Trust’s interpreters bill tops £900k

THE Southern Health and Social Care Trust had by far the highest bill for interpreting services last year out of all Northern Ireland’s health trusts.

At £919,547, the cost for the service in the Southern Trust area - which includes Dungannon Council district - is more than three times that of the Northern Trust area, which paid out £293,372 on interpreters during the same period.

The figures for the Western Trust, meanwhile, was also substantially lower at £196,299.

The South Eastern and Belfast Trusts spent £110,507 and £527,467 respectively.

The statistics were provided in answer to an Assembly question tabled by MLA David McClarty.
