Twenty-five years of District Enterprises
Company Chairman, Dr Gordon Byrne, reflected on the early days and how the company has developed over the last 25 years.
Starting in June 1989 when Banbridge District Council spearheaded a drive to establish an enterprise centre in Banbridge District Council area.

Hide AdThe company identified a site at the Scarva Road Industrial Estate and built offices and workspace accommodation for new businesses which were officially opened in 1992.
Growing over time, in 1998 we began to manage the Banbridge Business Centre on behalf of Banbridge District Council.
The company completed an extension to their own property during 1994 adding an additional 10,000sq ft. of workspace.
Working closely with Gilford Community Regeneration Company the company part funded the development of Dunbarton House in 2008 bringing much needed office accommodation to the town and in 2011 Rathfriland Enterprise Centre was also officially opened by Minister Arlene Foster.

Hide AdSpeaking at the celebratory event Arlene Foster said: “I am delighted to be here with you today to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Banbridge District Enterprises Ltd. This company has addressed a real need for quality workspace and is indeed a one stop shop for those starting and developing a business within the Banbridge District Council area.
The minister wished the company continued success and acknowledged the important positive contribution that the voluntary directors of the company have made to its success.
Dr Gordon Byrne, Chairman of Banbridge District Enterprises Ltd stated: “We are delighted to celebrate 25 years of Banbridge District Enterprises Ltd.
“We have contributed enormously to the economic development of the district and we consistently deliver quality advice and guidance to those starting and expanding their business. Having started in 1992 we now manage and own 55,000 sq. ft. of workspace which I am delighted to report is 100% occupied.”
