Whitehall will pay for G8

WHITEHALL will pick up the bill for the G8 Summit in Fermanagh in June although the Executive is working hand-in-hand with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and Downing Street with a view to showcasing Ulster to an international audience.

Investment Minister Arlene Foster said the UK Government will meet the material costs of hosting the summit at the Lough Erne Resort.

“The Northern Ireland Executive and other Northern Ireland bodies will be engaging in promotional activities in and around the Summit that will capitalise on having an international audience focused on Northern Ireland during this exciting time and using the opportunity to tell the world that this is a great place to do business and to visit,” she said.

“We are working closely with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and No.10 on ways that we can maximise this great opportunity.”
