Wesley Jameson has been named one of Northern Ireland’s top business people for a second year running - and with six companies to his name, it’s no surprise!
The Portadown man features on the ‘Northern Ireland Rising Stars 2015: 40 under Forty’ list, which is published in the Ulster Business Magazine.
The list features the top 40 business people under the age of 40 who are “working hard to secure both their own, their company’s and our community’s economic future.”
“I got a letter at the weekend,” Wesley said. “It’s a great opportunity to get your name out there.”
After studying marketing in Edinburgh and learning the tricks of the trade working in the family business, Wesley set up his first business, Portadown Recycling & Skip Hire, in 2010.
He didn’t waste time before establishing Itera Properties Ltd - on the Brownstown Road - Adventure Holdings NI Ltd; USA NI; Segway NI, and Paintball NI.
“Segway NI operates in Craigavon, Belfast and Newcastle,” Wesley said. “We were fully booked every weekend over the winter - people come for stag and hen parties, family days out, and a lot of businesses use it as a team building exercise.”
It’s not just locals wanting a Segway tour, either - Wesley gave Ant and Dec a private two-hour tour of Belfast last year.
Asked why he chose Segways - the two-wheeled, electric vehicles - the answer is simple, “I always wanted to have a go on one and then I found out no one was doing them in Northern Ireland. So we started off around Craigavon Lakes and now we have more than 30 Segways.”
Wesley has gone global, with USA NI offering everything from American football and baseball batting, to outdoor paint-balling at Belfast’s Titanic Quarter.
“We have a new paint-balling site in Belfast, which covers eight acres of land - just under the Harland & Wolff cranes,” Wesley says. “There are old buses and caravans and plenty of props on the site, which will fully open on April 1.”
Wesley has different plans; he opens his next company in April.
“My wife gave birth to twins last year so we now have three girls, which definitely keeps us busy,” Wesley shares. “We’re going to add another company to ‘Team NI’ - called Party Hire NI - and really focus on catering to all of people’s party needs across the province.”
