Women's Aid is here to help

CRAIGAVON and Banbridge Women's Aid has opportunities for volunteers as refuge support workers, child care support workers, outreach support workers and volunteer counsellors.

Volunteering with Women’s Aid is both rewarding and challenging. Volunteers are offered the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills, attend training workshops and undertake varied work in a well-structured work environment.

Volunteering also offers the opportunity to develop friendships and use your own personal and professional experience to help women and children. Volunteering is open to all women in the community.

Craigavon and Banbridge Women’s Aid provides emergency temporary housing for single women and women with children who are freeing themselves from domestic abuse.

The refuge staff supports women by agreeing a safety plan and a support plan for each individual. This support includes emotional support, accessing and applying for welfare benefits, support with physical and mental health issues, support with registering with a GP, referral to schools and nurseries, and accessing counselling. They also run a number of different groups for the women and children.
